Looks like Ultrasound is starting to make a run for it when it comes to intraoral imaging. For me the true competition is going to be between this modality and Swift MRI technique. I’m still more interested in MRI over ultrasound. Ultrasound doesn’t really do too well with detail, at least not what I’ve seen… Continue reading Ultrasound for Ultraimaging

All Moved In
Yesterday I made the move to the city where my residency is. A very tiring move and I’m glad I’m done with it. Next time I am simply going to hire movers, it will actually be cheaper to do it this way. The cost of renting a truck is baffling to me. Now I still… Continue reading All Moved In
Finally, One Machine & Multiple FOV
I haven’t understood why, so far, there was no engineering team that set their minds to produce a cone beam CT machine that has multiple fields of view (FOV). Carestream Dental (AKA Koda) has finally released a machine that allows you to choose a large FOV or several different smaller ones. This should help tremendously… Continue reading Finally, One Machine & Multiple FOV
Last Week of Work
Being a general dentist was fun and this week will mark the end of it for me. At least for a while and hopefully forever. It is a somewhat sad and somewhat happy transition. This is a huge change, from going from a mainly surgical type of practice to a completely non-surgical practice. Many questions… Continue reading Last Week of Work
Summer Semester and Some Challenges
As of today I am finally registered for classes and paid my tuition. Getting to this point was the most difficult task. I had many holds on my account. As a newly registered student I was baffled by this. Most of them were taken care of by the department, sign this paper here and that… Continue reading Summer Semester and Some Challenges
Affiliate Member AAOMR
I am finally approved to be an affiliate member of AAOMR. The entire process took around 8 months from the time of application to time of actually membership. I’m glad to be a member, and hopefully I can get involved as soon as possible. Maybe I can streamline the application and approval process.
Osirix Update
Thanks to this latest release of Osirix, I have been contemplating getting a new computer. Osirix is a wonderfully free DICOM viewer with a ton of capability. I am more than impressed with this software and more than likely to continue using this software. The problem is that my three year old computer just doesn’t… Continue reading Osirix Update
I Have My Logon
So it’s been quiet for the most part. Yesterday I get an email that has me set up to login into the school system. So far all I can do is update my address and phone, but at least progress is being made and I am very excited to be a part of this. I… Continue reading I Have My Logon
Frustration with AAOMR
I’m a bit frustrated with AAOMR and their lack of organization. To give you some background, I have applied to be a member, and paid my dues over six months ago. Since then I have tried emailing several times, back and forth to see what the status of my application is. Honestly I have never… Continue reading Frustration with AAOMR
SWIFT MRI
After a long day of work today, I came home to just simply lay down in bed and relax and read some news. One of the things I have always been interested in is finding out a way to be able to image teeth without using ionizing radiation. Well, low and behold, I’m looking at Dr… Continue reading SWIFT MRI
